The COVID-19 pandemic has forced many companies within the real estate and mortgage industries to adjust their business practices. Here are a few highlights:

Remote Online Notarization

The Oregon Association of Realtors (OAR) is advocating for and participating in the development of a statewide policy to allow for Remote Online Notarization in transactions of real property. Last week OAR sent a letter to Secretary of State Bev Clarno arguing that under current law Oregon should be accepting RONs conducted by notarial officers of other states that allow them.

Drive-up Closings

First America Title has instituted a drive-up service to facilitate closings. At the time of your appointment, you will remain in your car and be greeted by a First American Title team member or Notary. After presenting your ID, they will provide the documents that require your signature and a new pen which you will keep. From there you can sign your paperwork while remaining in your car. Final signed copies will be emailed to you afterwards.

For the foreseeable future, this is the new normal. We will keep you up to date as things continue to evolve. Reach out to Scott Bennett at 503-703-4699 or scott@altmo.com if you have any questions or to talk about your current situation.
